If you have your computer connected to a network, you may want to check with your Network Administrator to make sure your settings are correct. For the dial-up connection that we are going to setup, these are the components that you should have installed in the box that says "The following network components are installed". Client for Microsoft Networks, Dial-up Adapter and TCP/IP. If these 3 components are not installed, you will need to add them. It is also a good idea to remove any unnecessary components you don't need. IPX/SPX-compatible and NetBEUI can be removed.

If your Network screen is missing any of the above, follow these steps to add the needed item:
Click on the Add button. When the Select Network Component Type box appears double click on Client.

On the left will be a list of manufacturers and on the right a list of clients the manufacturer makes. Highlight Microsoft on the left and double-click on Client for Microsoft Networks on the right. Click OK.

Next you need to install the Dial-up Adaptor. Click the Add button again in the Network Configuration box. Double click Adaptor.

On the left under manufacturers choose Microsoft and on the left pick Dial-up adaptor. Click OK.

Last you need to install TCP/IP. Click the Add button in the Network configuration box. When the Select Network Component Type box appears, double click on Protocol.

On the left under manufacturers click once on Microsoft. On the right click on TCP/IP. Click OK.

You should now be back in the Network Configuration box. Click OK and the computer should restart. If you are asked to supply your Windows CD, please make sure you do so or the install will not work. Pay attention to any message warning you about Version Conflicts, even though the logical answer is YES to that question, please answer NO to ensure good, clean copies are taken from the CD.
